It’s been an exciting year at KEM!  In case you missed it, here are some of the highlights.

Evelyn Hall joined our team in January 2018 as a staff accountant.  Many of you may have already met and talked with her.  She moved to our great state from Connecticut, where she worked for ESPN, which was great for her since she loves video games and sports!

We had an exciting time getting clients wrapped up and organized to file their taxes on time.  One common issue that we keep working with but that remains troublesome is collecting those W9 forms!  Let’s get ahead of that this year, collect W9’s from the vendors you work with BEFORE you pay them (vendors are more eager to comply with this request to get paid). Once you get them, please share that information with us!

Our database guru, Karen, was able to attend the QuickBase conference in Austin this year.  One of the cool things she learned was how to set up automation based on a specific action.  For example, if you click a checkbox that indicates that a potential client is now an active client, it can automatically copy the pertinent customer data from the potential to actual client table.  No more duplicate data entry and a cleaner database without input errors!  If you want to know more about QuickBase and how it could make your business more efficient, feel free to email or call our office. (Karen will do free a consultation with you!)

With QuickBooks being the leading small-midsize accounting software, we sent Liz to San Jose for the QuickBooks Connect 2018 Conference.  The conference helps accounting professionals learn about upcoming changes and partnerships designed to improve workflow efficiency.  We aren’t going to tell you all the things to expect but we will share a couple:

  1. If you use Intuit Payments, deposits may reach your bank account in as little as 30 minutes!
  2. Look for improved reports within QuickBooks Online that will show benchmarks and industry comparisons.

One of our goals at KEM is to be well versed in the products we offer.  That is why our staff is Pro-Advisor certified and attends monthly training sessions.  We focus on what we do best and you can focus on what you do best.

With so much happening throughout the year, Karen and I wanted to take the time to gather our clients, partners, friends and family to say THANK YOU for all their support.  We had an amazing turnout at our Cocktails with KEM celebration in October.  You can see some of the event pictures below.  You may have missed it this year but be on the lookout for our annual celebration invite happening in the fall of 2019.

If we don’t hear from you before the end of the year, Happy New Year!
